Replace Missing Teeth With Stable, Natural-Looking New Teeth
Dental implants are the gold standard for tooth replacement, and with modern advancements, most people can benefit from them.
At Applewhite Dental Arts, we provide full implant services, from single-tooth replacement to full-mouth replacement, led by Dr. Pournik, a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and Dr. Fallah, a board-certified periodontist specializing in implant surgery, bone grafting and advanced periodontics. We use advanced technology to plan and perform your implant treatment, including 3D imaging, precise treatment planning software and digitally created surgical guides.

Why Dental Implants?
Implants replace missing teeth, teeth that can’t be saved and can be used to support dentures. They are a more natural and longer-lasting replacement than dental bridges or dentures.
Bridges require the adjacent teeth to be cut down to accommodate crowns that hold the bridge in place.
Dentures have to be removed, can be unstable and have poor chewing power—which provides insufficient stimulus of jaw bone, and progressive loss of lower facial structure.
Implants are stable and feel, act and look like your natural teeth. They can last your lifetime with good care.
Types of Dental Implants

Single Tooth Replacement
The most straightforward replacement for a single tooth (or two adjacent teeth) is a dental implant. It’s a one-for-one replacement and doesn’t require cutting down of adjacent teeth as with dental bridges. As we carefully plan the procedure in advance, the actual implant placement is efficient, with little to no discomfort.
If an extraction is needed, we can often place the implant at the same time. If there is bone loss, we will place a bone graft to stimulate bone growth and then place the implant.
When the implant is in the visible part of your mouth, we place a temporary tooth, so your smile remains intact.

Multiple Teeth Replacement
If you are missing several teeth, we may recommend implant-supported bridges or individual implants for each missing tooth. Dr. Pournik examines your teeth and bone, and if there is inadequate bone, she will usually recommend an implant-supported bridge, as there are fewer surgical sites and faster healing. Single implants are great for heavy-biting areas and can last longer because each implant carries its own load.

Zirconia Implants
We use zirconia implants for people with metal sensitivity or allergy, or who would prefer to have a non-metal post in their mouth. They can also be good for people with autoimmune or inflammatory concerns.
Most patients do great with standard implants, which are made out of titanium, a known biocompatible material.
Zirconia implants require very precise planning and placement, including careful bite control to avoid implant failure. Dr. Pournik uses digital bite diagnostics to ensure a properly aligned bite and avoid undue stress on your zirconia implant.

Snap-In Implant-Supported Dentures
If you currently wear dentures — or are facing full tooth loss — Snap-In Dentures can be a major upgrade. Traditional dentures provide only about 15-25% of natural chewing ability, and Snap-In Dentures can increase that to 40-60%.
We use four implants to support each of the upper and lower dentures. The implants are removable for cleaning and overnight sleep.
Snap-in Dentures are the most economical option for replacing a full set of teeth using dental implants.

Same-Day Implant Smile
If your teeth are failing, broken down or missing, in just one day, we can extract any remaining teeth, place dental implants and attach an aesthetic temporary set of teeth.
Once the implants have fully healed (integrated with the bone), you get a beautiful set of strong, final, permanent teeth made out of zirconia.
A Same-Day Implant Smile tooth replacement provides close to natural chewing power, and patients can eat and chew whatever they want post treatment.

“Dr. Pournik actually gave me my smile back.”
“I chose Applewhite Dental Arts because I had a four-wheeler accident and it broke the teeth from here back. I was losing bone density in my face, and it messed up my jawline. I had a hard time eating steak. I couldn’t chew.
“I wouldn’t smile, and I had gaps in my teeth back here where there were no teeth. So I would do my best not to smile hard.
“Dr. Pournik is caring, she’s genuine. Her staff is real, they care about you.
“Dr. Pournik gave me my smile back. I couldn’t eat and now I can. It’s amazing. I love it. I love being able to eat whatever I want, chew whatever I want, and smile whenever I want.”
