The Benefits of Dental Implants
A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth with a biocompatible titanium or zirconia post that supports a crown, bridge, denture or a full set of new teeth.
Implants function and feel very similar to natural teeth. By replacing the tooth at the root level, they provide a strong, stable foundation you can rely on. Unlike a traditional bridge, implants do not require altering or placing crowns on neighboring teeth to stay in place.
We offer full-dental implant services, including:

Getting Your Dental Implants at Applewhite Dental Arts

1. 3D Imaging for Precise Results
Dr. Pournik begins implant treatment with advanced 3D CBCT imaging and digital scans. This allows her to evaluate bone structure, anatomy and surrounding structures in detail — not just guess based on standard X-rays.
With this level of visibility, implants can be planned in the safest and most stable position from the start.

2. Careful Planning Before Any Procedure
Before any implant is placed, Dr. Pournik designs the case digitally — determining the exact position, angle and depth of each implant based on your final bite and smile.
This planning-first approach allows treatment to be carried out with greater accuracy, fewer surprises and more predictable long-term results.

3. Precise Implant Placement
Using 3D CBCT imaging and digital scans, Dr. Pournik determines the exact position, angle and depth of each implant before the procedure. She uses surgical guides when appropriate to help place implants accurately and in the correct position.
Depending on the case, implants are placed either by Dr. Pournik or by our board-certified periodontist, who handles more complex surgical procedures.

4. Comfortable, Relaxed Experience
Patient comfort is a priority throughout treatment.
Dr. Pournik offers IV sedation for surgical procedures, along with a natural relaxation option, NuCalm, which helps many patients feel calm and at ease during their visit. Combined with a quiet, one-patient-at-a-time environment, this creates a more relaxed and low-stress experience. She also gives a pain-free injection guarantee.
We also provide headphones, pillows and blankets; beverages and snacks, including fresh-baked cookies!

5. Healing & Temporary Teeth for an Intact Smile
After implants are placed, time is allowed for the bone to integrate and create a strong, stable foundation.
During this healing phase, Dr. Pournik provides temporary solutions to help you maintain your appearance and function while your implants fully heal. Depending on your treatment, this may include a temporary tooth, a bridge or a full set of teeth.

6. Final Teeth Designed for Function and Aesthetics
Once healing is complete, Dr. Pournik places your final crown, bridge or full set of teeth.
Dr. Pournik designs the final result to fit your bite and function properly, using detailed diagnostics and planning to ensure forces are balanced and the teeth work comfortably over time. She then works with top dental laboratories to fabricate the crown or bridge that matches that design in strength, fit and appearance.
This attention to bite and function is critical — it helps prevent excessive wear, breakage or implant overload, and supports long-term durability.

Bone Grafting & Sinus Lifts
In some cases, additional support is needed to create a strong foundation for implants — but this depends on your bone and overall treatment plan.
In many situations, Dr. Pournik places bone grafting at the time of extraction or implant placement to help preserve bone and improve long-term stability. In other cases, grafting may be done in advance to rebuild bone before implants can be placed.
For full-arch cases, such as Same-Day Implant Smiles, implants are often placed in areas of stronger existing bone, which generally eliminates the need for extensive grafting beforehand.
When more advanced procedures are required, such as larger grafts or sinus lifts, Dr. Pournik works closely with Dr. Fallah, a board-certified periodontist who specializes in implant surgery and bone reconstruction. This team approach allows complex cases to be handled with a high level of precision and predictability.
Our goal is always to create the most stable, long-term result while avoiding unnecessary procedures.
Our Implant Options for Teeth Replacement
Dental implants are the most stable and natural tooth replacement options available. Implants are anchored in the jaw and provide a more permanent alternative to a dental bridge or dentures. Dr. Pournik offers several implant options to replace missing or failing teeth and will help you choose the best solution to fit your oral health goals.

Single Tooth Replacement
The best option for replacing a single tooth is a dental implant topped with an abutment and crown.

Replacing Several Adjacent Teeth
An implant-supported bridge can replace multiple adjacent teeth using as few as two implants.

Same-Day Implant Smiles
Sick of loose dentures? Stabilize your dentures with two to four dental implants. These removable implant-supported dentures are also an economical option for full-teeth replacement.

Snap-in Dentures
Two to four implants can stabilize a denture, improving chewing ability and preventing it from moving while eating, talking, or laughing.
Zirconia Implants
We use zirconia implants for people with metal sensitivity or allergy, or who would prefer to have a non-metal post in their mouth. They can also be good for people with autoimmune or inflammatory concerns.
Most patients do well with standard implants, which are made of titanium, a biocompatible material.
Zirconia implants require very precise planning and placement, including careful bite control to avoid implant failure. Dr. Pournik uses digital bite diagnostics to ensure a properly aligned bite and avoid undue stress on your zirconia implant.

“I can eat now without being afraid, it’s life-changing.”
My teeth were getting very, very bad, and I didn’t know what direction to take or where to go or where to start. For a while, I was missing some teeth on the side of my mouth, so I really couldn’t smile fully because I was missing some teeth.
“I searched for a dentist online, and I saw her reviews. I think she had five stars, so that’s why I chose her. Dr. Pournik is awesome. Her staff is awesome.
